Charlotte is a very accessible city by road, rail and air. As well as the Charlotte Douglas International Airport, an excellent train service runs to a number of destinations in North Carolina and beyond. Charlotte also lies at the intersection of Interstates 77 and 85.

Charlotte by Air

The Charlotte area is served by the Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), North Carolina‚s busy international and domestic gateway. A regular city bus service leaves hourly from the airport and taxis are readily available from the baggage claim level, with set fares for up to two people with a two US dollar charge for each additional passenger.

Charlotte by Road

North Carolina has a fine network of highways and picturesque but efficient smaller roads that provide easy access to all parts of the Charlotte. I-40 is the major east-west channel, crossing North Carolina from Wilmington on the Atlantic Coast to the Great Smoky Mountains via Raleigh, Durham and Winston-Salem. From here, the I-85 links it with Charlotte.

Getting Around Charlotte

Charlotte is an easy town to find your way around and hiring a car is the best option, as the city tends not to have the large volumes of traffic that trouble other such cities. The local public transport network in Charlotte is clean, efficient and reliable.
