Houston City Guide Houston Transportation As you would expect for one of America's largest city areas, Houston has excellent transport links. As well as the two airports, there are extensive interstate highway links both into and out of the city. Houston by Air Houston, Texas has two airports: The George Bush Intercontinental handles both international and domestic flights while The William P. Hobby Airport deals solely with American internal carriers. Houston by Road Interstate 10 passes east-west through Houston providing access to and from San Antonio. I-45 heads north-south and connects to the popular getaway of Galveston. Getting Around Houston Taxis from both airports to the downtown area are reasonably priced and depending on traffic, the travel time is 20 to 45 minutes. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority run a comprehensive network of bus services throughout Houston and the surrounding area which enables the visitor to explore the city without the complications of navigating a car around the busy streets.
